Being Considerate

Following God's Lead

It is important to look out for and take care of yourself. It’s also important to extend that same courtesy to others. We should take time to look out for people whenever we can. For example, I have a friend who is almost always busy doing things for others on her days off from work. Before I ask for her help with something I make sure that she isn’t busy that day. Sometimes she’ll say she can help me, but she’ll try to squeeze me into her busy schedule. I don’t want to add stress to her already stressful schedule simply because I need something from her. Instead, I try to find a less busy day for her, or I’ll figure out another way to get what I need done without her help.

Even if she’s busy, she’ll still try to help me when I ask. Other people take advantage of her hospitality because they don’t take her situation into consideration. I choose to look out for her well being by being mindful of her stressful schedule.  I tell her not to worry about it and I explain to her that she is already too busy and instead, she needs to take some time for herself to relax. She insists on still helping me, but I assure her that I can come up with another way to get it done, and I do. She’s trying to look out for me and I’m trying to look out for her😊. It’s so important to be considerate of other people.

“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” (Philippians 2:3,4)
