For me, it’s easier to encourage others than it is to encourage myself. I’ve learned that leaning on God for encouragement does wonders for my spirit. So when I get discouraged that’s what I try to remember to do. I try not to focus on the situation because I know that God is always there to help me and he has the final say about how the situation will turn out.
I also have to remember that God’s plans supersede my plans. If I’m not meant to have what I’m trying to get or go where I’m trying to go, then it’s not going to happen. I have to be ok with that. I trust that God knows what’s best for me better than I do. I must admit that it’s not always easy to accept that fact. Sometimes what you’re asking for is not what you actually want, you just don’t realize it because you don’t have all the information. Sometimes what you’re asking for is not what you actually need or maybe it’s meant for you to have but it’s not the right time. I’ve been in a situation where I prayed for something and God didn’t give me what I asked for but instead, gave me something much better. How can I argue with that! 🙂 “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
We are going to go through situations that are unpleasant and that’s just life. Knowing that God is there to help me get through those situations gives me the courage and the strength to get through it. I am strong because God strengthens me and I will get through it. That’s how I stay encouraged.
