Speak Life Over Your Situations

We must be mindful of the words we speak. The things we say can have a positive or negative effect on our lives and the lives of others. For example, when people say things like, “These kids are driving me crazy” or “This job is making me sick,” they are speaking negative things over themselves. People actually lose their minds or become sick and don’t realize they have spoken these things over themselves or others. I used to say the second statement about my job, and I ended up with headaches every week and my blood pressure started going up to a point where my doctor wanted to prescribe blood pressure medication. I had to stop saying the job was making me sick because it literally was doing just that! The job was stressful, but it didn’t help that I was saying that. I suffered the consequences of what I said.

When you accept Jesus into your life, the Holy Spirit will reside within you. The ability to speak positive and negative things over a situation and that situation be affected by your words comes from the power of the Holy Spirit. (We can’t do this on our own.) So be mindful of what you say to people and what you say about yourself. Always strive to speak positively or don’t say anything at all.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)
