The enemy doesn’t necessarily need you to follow him to separate you from God. All he needs to do is get you to be disobedient to God. This can take many forms. He plays on your emotions by encouraging you to not show love to others, especially those who society says do not deserve it. He encourages you to be judgmental, to be selfish, to be envious, etc. He even tries to encourage people not to fulfil their purpose by keeping them busy, distracted, discouraged, or too stressed to be bothered.
We must pay attention to these traps. The enemy is like a thief. He will try to steal the positive things God has placed within each of us, and his goal is to destroy us. Because you choose to follow Christ, he hates you. If he can’t destroy you, then he will try to get you to be disobedient to God’s word. Be alert and ask God for protection and wisdom. Continue to pray for yourself and for all believers in Christ.
“that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:27
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” John 10:10
