None of us are perfect. I like to keep that idea in the back of my mind. We are all learning and growing and changing, hopefully in positive ways. Also, what works for one person in a situation may not work for another person. That’s just life. It’s not always easy to not judge someone as a result of what they said or did, but I try to be non-judgmental.
When I am being judgmental I try to correct myself. I accept the fact that people will have different opinions from mine and just let it go. I believe that how you feel about a situation or how you choose to live your life is between you and God. It is not my responsibility to change you. I can give my opinion about the issue and explain why I feel the way I do; that’s it.
If I’m not perfect, then what gives me the right to point out someone else’s flaws? Especially, if I do the same things (Matthew 7:3-5). That’s something to think about. If I see someone doing or saying something that is offensive to others then I might give them constructive criticism. I do think that constructive criticism is different from judgment. Constructive criticism is meant to inform in a positive friendly manner. Judgment is more oppositional and critical. With that being said, not everyone can handle constructive criticism and I have to accept that too. I just do my part and keep it moving. Sometimes that’s all you can do.
“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7:1, 2)
